In an attempt to bolster support in key battleground states, President Joe Biden is set to visit Nevada and Arizona this week. The President’s reelection campaign is focusing on improving housing affordability and creating jobs in clean energy and manufacturing sectors, asserting that his policies are benefiting Americans.

The campaign is also spotlighting early organizing efforts in these states, which they believe will be crucial for electoral victory. Biden is particularly targeting the Latino community, a significant voting bloc in both states, as he counters efforts by his predecessor, Donald Trump, to gain traction within this demographic.

The campaign will launch the “Latinos con Biden-Harris” initiative during Biden’s visit to South Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, according to campaign officials.

Challenges Ahead

Despite defeating Trump in both Nevada and Arizona in the 2020 election, early polling suggests Biden may face a tough battle in these western swing states this year. A Fox News poll indicates a slight edge for Trump in Arizona, while Nevada is predicted to be a closely contested race.

However, the Biden team remains hopeful that issues such as reproductive rights and democracy could sway moderate voters in their favor, especially with potential abortion rights provisions appearing on the state ballots in November.

Strategy for Victory

The campaign’s strategy for victory involves reactivating Biden’s 2020 coalition and mobilizing new voters, with a focus on diverse demographics including AAPI, Latino, Black, indigenous, young, and women voters. The campaign also aims to garner support from union workers.

The western swing is part of the Biden campaign’s March month of action, which includes travel to every battleground state following what they believe was a successful State of the Union address.

Expanding Campaign Operations

The campaign is also expanding its operations in battleground states, with plans to open over 100 new offices and hire 350 new team members, including 40 across Nevada and Arizona.

Addressing Housing Costs

In Nevada, Biden will highlight his plan to combat rising housing costs, urging Congress to pass legislation aimed at improving affordability for first-time homebuyers and renters. The President has proposed $258 billion in housing investments in the budget he submitted to Congress earlier this month.

Engaging the Latino Community

In Phoenix, Biden will kick off the “Latinos con Biden-Harris” initiative at a local Mexican restaurant. The campaign is working to boost bilingual organizers and open offices in areas with Latino communities.

Biden’s travel this week will also serve to boost his campaign funds, with fundraisers planned in Dallas and Houston, Texas.
