In a recent statement, Jared Kushner, son-in-law to former President Donald Trump, announced his decision to abstain from serving in a potential second Trump administration. Kushner expressed his commitment to concentrate on his business endeavors.

“Life has never followed the plans I’ve set, that’s the only constant,” Kushner stated at an Axios event in Miami. He further emphasized his intent to focus on his private equity firm “at this phase” of his life.

Kushner, who previously served as a senior adviser in the Trump administration, transitioned to the financial sector after his White House tenure. He founded a Miami-based investment firm, Affinity Partners.

On Tuesday, Kushner expressed his contentment with his family being “out of the spotlight” post his and his wife, Ivanka Trump’s White House roles. He affirmed his commitment to his investors, firm, employees, and partners.

When asked if he would decline a potential administration role offered by his father-in-law, Kushner responded affirmatively. He mentioned that Trump has had ample time to reflect on his third presidential campaign.

“The team around him is perhaps the best he’s had,” Kushner opined, predicting an enhanced level of competence and professionalism in a potential second Trump administration.

Kushner referred to Trump’s first White House bid as a “family campaign,” where he was an “outsider running.” However, he believes that this time around, Trump would be able to assemble an exceptional team.

Despite initial concerns about personnel in the Trump White House, Kushner reassured that those unfit for their roles were eventually “weeded out.”

Kushner’s 2022 memoir shed light on the tumultuous environment within the Trump West Wing, revealing the internal strife and distrust that plagued the administration from its earliest days.

During Trump’s tenure, Kushner played a significant role in various administration agenda items, including the border wall, immigration, relations with China, criminal justice, trade agreements, the Middle East, and the White House’s coronavirus response. He also led the White House Office of American Innovation, aimed at modernizing government technology.

Prior to his political career, Kushner served as CEO of his family’s real estate development firm, Kushner Properties.
