On Wednesday, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert revealed her intention to run for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District in the 2024 elections. The move comes as part of the Republican Party’s strategy to maintain their slim majority in the House of Representatives.

Boebert, one of the most conservative members of the House, was anticipated to face a challenging reelection campaign in Colorado’s 3rd District, located in the state’s Western region. “This decision aligns with my personal convictions and is in the best interest of those who support our conservative movement,” Boebert stated in her announcement video.

She further added, “The constituents of Colorado’s 4th District are in need of a fearless advocate of liberty with a demonstrated commitment to conservative principles.” The eastern Colorado district is currently represented by Republican Rep. Ken Buck, who declared last month that he will not be seeking reelection.

Boebert admitted that her decision was not made lightly, attributing her move to the influence of “Hollywood elites and progressive money groups” that she claims are “purchasing” the 3rd District seat. Earlier this year, Democrat Adam Frisch, who narrowly lost to Boebert in the 2022 midterm elections, announced his intention to challenge her again in 2024. Boebert’s 2022 victory was by a slim margin of just 546 votes.

Boebert, a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump, won her district by approximately 8 percentage points in the 2020 elections, while Trump won the 4th District by about 19 percentage points. In her announcement video, Boebert reaffirmed her support for Trump’s White House bid and pledged to halt “Bidenomics,” blaming President Joe Biden for the current inflation.

Boebert and Biden have frequently clashed, with Biden criticizing the congresswoman during a recent visit to the 3rd District. Last month, Biden praised the provisions of his administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, promising job creation for the local community, while delivering a scathing critique of Boebert, whom he labeled as “one of the leaders of this extreme MAGA movement.”

Biden stated, “She, along with every single Republican colleague, voted against the law that made these investments in jobs possible. Then she voted to repeal key parts of this law, and she called this law a massive failure. Is this what the 850 newly employed Coloradans consider a massive failure? It seems more like a massive failure in thinking by the congresswoman and her colleagues.”
